"Winter Hen" is inspired by a photo I took of one of my girls this past winter. The original as well as prints are now available.
Granted it's almost officially Summer, but I've wanted to do this pic of one of the chickens from winter. I like the snow on her beak (which I haven't yet added to the pastel painting).
This is V.D. (short for Vizsla dog). I just finished this pastel portrait and sent a photo to the client, and I'm pleased to say he is very happy. He's doing a payment plan (feel free to ask me about that) so after the final installment V.D. will be framed and shipped off.
This Is VD (a.k.a Vizsla Dog). I've just been commissioned to do a pup portrait of this cutie pie.
I've added a few magnets! These vinyl magnets are flexible and a decent size (4¼" x 5½"). Pick and choose, or save a little by buying the 5 pack.
A few weeks ago I was at my friend Abigail's homestead farm and snapped a few photos of her cows, 2 out of 3 were pregnant. Here's the beginning of my first cow pastel painting.
Nice! Just got my business cards! Really like the square.
Here is the finished painting of the lovely Cassie. When you're an artist that does portraits (human or animal), now matter how much I like it, or how good friends tell me it is, there's always a little bit of trepidation before showing the client the final work. Happily these clients are very pleased with their painting. They also didn't leave me hanging long, and called me shortly after I sent them the full image in an email.
Visit my Pup Portrait Commissions page if you or someone you know is interested.
I'm currently working on this pup portrait of Cassie, recently commissioned by a client. I love the sweet face and how the flowers emphasize what I am sure, from the photos I was sent, is her bright and joyful nature.
Welcome to my new website!
It's always fun starting something new and seeing where it may lead. Just less than 2 years ago I started a new adventure by moving to Vermont. Next thing I know I'm building a coop and raising chickens...now I'm painting chickens!
For those of you who know me from my figurative pieces it's nice to have this new home to showcase this other side of my work. I like to think of it as broadening my subject matter and not switching it, after all variety is the spice of life!
